Have you ever felt like there’s more to life than what you’re experiencing right now? More than the routines, the responsibilities, and the daily grind?
That inner tug isn’t just wishful thinking—it’s a divine reminder that you were created for something greater. As Christians, we were never meant to live average, aimless lives. We are God’s workmanship, intentionally crafted for a unique purpose.
The apostle Paul reminds us of a powerful truth in his letter to the Ephesians: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
You are not a mistake. You are God’s masterpiece—His poiēma, a word from which we get the English word “poem.” Your life is a divine composition, a story written by the Master Author Himself.
The world has a way of pressing us into its mold—telling us how to think, what to pursue, and how to measure success. But God calls us to something radically different: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2a (NIV)
Transformation begins when we stop settling and start surrendering. When we choose to live out God’s truth, we begin to walk in the “more” we were created for. Scripture is full of individuals who discovered they were made for more—often in the most unlikely circumstances.
Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, and imprisoned unjustly, Joseph could have given up. But he held on to God’s promise. In the end, he rose to become a leader who saved an entire region from famine. “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50:20 (NIV)
Esther may have been just another face in the palace, but God had a plan. When her people were under threat, she realized her influence wasn’t by accident.“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14 (NIV))
Peter was impulsive, inconsistent, and even denied Jesus. But Jesus didn’t give up on him. “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church...” - Matthew 16:18a (NIV) God took his brokenness and turned it into boldness. Peter became a pillar in the early Church. That’s the power of walking in divine purpose.
Your personality, your talents, your story—they all serve a greater purpose. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:14 (NIV) You don’t need to imitate someone else’s journey. You’ve been equipped for the one God uniquely designed for you.
So how do you begin walking in the “more” God has for you?
God didn’t call you to live a mediocre life. He didn’t create you to simply exist. You were made for more—more love, more impact, more transformation. When you walk with God, every step becomes a divine appointment, and every moment an opportunity to live out your God-given purpose.
I leave you with the following chorus from the song “Made For More” by Jenn Johnson and Josh Baldwin:
‘Cause I wasn’t made to be tending a grave
I was called by name
I was made for more
So why would I make a bed in my shame
When a fountain of grace is running my way
I know I am Yours
And I was made for more.
You are not here by accident. You are here by design. And with God, the best is always yet to come.
