Satan, the archenemy of our souls, ceaselessly endeavours to derail our progress and extinguish the flame of faith within us. Joseph, sold into slavery by his own brothers, endured years of hardship yet remained unwavering in his trust in God's providence. His steadfastness ultimately led to his exaltation as a ruler in Egypt—a testament to the faithfulness of God in fulfilling His promises. It is no wonder that when Joseph’s brothers became fearful of revenge, Joseph allayed their fears by telling them, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” (Genesis 50:20, NLT)
David was a teenager when he was first anointed as King of Israel. You would have thought David’s life would proceed un an upward trajectory from this point onwards but that was not the case. First, he had to fight Goliath, then for years, he was relentlessly pursued by Saul who saw David as a threat to his dynasty. He eventually became king over Israel many years after he was first anointed.
Apostle Paul's life was marked by persecution, imprisonment, and untold hardships. Yet, in the face of adversity, he remained resolute in his commitment to spreading the gospel, undeterred by the threats and trials that beset him. He was an example of dogged focus on the ultimate goal of the Christian. "No, dear brothers, I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us."
Many years ago, I made a decision to embark on a journey which meant leaving everything behind and starting over in a different country. While many friends respected and encouraged my decision, there were a few who thought I was making a very big mistake. The only reason I was resolute was because I had prayed about this moment for years and I knew without any doubt that this was the answer to my prayers.
