Heaven . . . Can’t Wait
By LaRose Karr

The current bible study I am leading is “Getting to Heaven” by Don Piper and Cecil Murphey – Departing Instructions for Your Life Now.

Wow, what a topic and how fun it is for Christians to study. The youngest girl in our group is nineteen and the oldest is eighty-nine. We have a seventy year age span in our little group of ladies and somehow I think it’s very appropriate that God’s women study in such a diverse group. None of us are closer to heaven than the other.

The youngest is not farther away from glory than the oldest or those in between. Any day could be our day to be transported to glory.

Recently the Lord opened my eyes to some things we say about heaven that are not accurate. In life on earth, we sometimes cust...

I am sure anyone seeing the above caption would wonder what this writer is trying get across to the readers? How can he be asking or questioning the existence of God? I would like you to know that this writer believes in the existence of God without a shadow of doubt.

Many years ago, I was flipping through the channels on the TV, when I stumbled on an interview program. The personality being interviewed was Nobel Laureate, Nigerian writer and Social Critic, Professor Wole Soyinka.

I was naturally interested in hearing what he had to say concerning some recent political and social events in the country, so I settled down on the couch to listen. Out of the blue, came the question, "Professor Soyinka, Do you believe in God?"

The professor replied emphatically, "No, I d...

Exactly one year ago, a cloud of grief descended on the Nigerian nation as the news of Dana Air Flight 992 spread like wildfire. The Media and Social Networks buzzed with updates on the event and the identifying the victims of the crash even before the official flight manifest was released. It was one of the worst air disasters recorded in the Nigerian aviation history.

Grief poured out like rainfall as people who knew them posted pictures of whole families perishing in the ill-fated aircraft on social network sites like Facebook.

One year later, the airline that owned the aircraft is back in operation and it is business as usual but for those who lost loved ones, which includes me; we can only take comfort in the one who comforts those who grieve. Knowledge of scriptu...

He had never known the privilege of seeing what the sun looked like even though he felt the warmth. He knew the relief of having a drink of water after enduring the heat of the sun, but he never knew what it looked like to the eyes. He heard people talking about colours but he did not know what colours looked like. He was born into a family and knew them all by name and by touch but had never seen his parents or siblings ever since he was born.

Having no sight meant that he could not work and not working meant that he would have no means to feed or cloth himself. Only one option was open to him if he was to survive; rely on the sympathy of people to give him alms. Thankfully his was a religious country where giving of alms is an important part of their belief, so he was guaranteed to ha...

I am passionate about unity in the body of Christ. I guess it is because I have also discovered that our Lord Jesus Christ not only preached it but also spent a significant part of His prayer in John 17, asking God to help the church to be one even as He is one with the Father.

In Genesis 11:1-6, we read that the whole earth was of one speech and language. There was one global language. It was no wonder therefore that they decided to embark on a project - to build a high tower to the heavens as a means of identification so that no matter where they find themselves, the tower will always be their guide back.

Listen to what God says, "And the Lord said, Behold, they are one people and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do, and now no...

History has shown that the greatest weapon of mass destruction is the tongue. Well managed, it creates and builds up; uncontrolled, it destroys without restraint.
