Have you noticed how candid the Bible is about its heroes? It doesn’t whitewash the flaws and foibles of its characters.
Abraham is not only the Father of All Who Believe but the scared rabbit who puts his wife in jeopardy to save his neck. King David is not only the Man After God’s Heart but the adulterer who lies and kills a man to try to keep the affair from being exposed.
Peter is not only First Among Equals in the band of apostles but the frightened fisherman who denies knowing Jesus of Nazareth in his hour of need – not once, but three times.
So how can these people be “saints” and “examples” to the rest of us? How are we supposed to find hope and encouragement from reading their stories?

Walking In His Presence
By Steve Popoola
I read about a boy who every night had to walk past what he believed was a haunted house. A friend gave him a good luck charm to give him courage.
An adult said, “It’s sinful to be afraid. Trust God! Be brave!” But the boy was still afraid. Then someone told him, "I know what it means to be afraid, take my hand, I will go with you". The boy took the man's hand and he was no longer afraid.
In discussing the topic, Walking in His Presence, we will be looking at three aspects of God's presence.
The Essential Presence of God: This refers to the omnipresence of God. By Omnipresence, we mean that God is everywhere at all times. The Psalmist emphasized this when He...

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. (Psalm 91:11,12)
I am quite familiar with Psalm 91, which is popularly referred to as the Pilot's Psalm. I believe very much that God protects His people especially when we are not even aware of the danger around us.
One day in 2005, God opened my eyes a little to show me that He really does protect His own. I was at work on a Saturday and planned to be in church later in the day for a revival programme. By the time I left work, I was already running late.

Central to the Christian faith is the cross. The shape of the cross has become a figure of design for some people and for others, it is just a piece of jewelry. For some others, it is like a talisman that they wear about to protect them from danger.
The cross can be seen almost everywhere but many do not know what it signifies.
A little background on the cross; The Cross was used by the Romans as a horrible and shameful instrument of death. It was reserved only for those at the lower levels of society like slaves and servants. So disgraceful was death by the cross that the Romans themselves would declare, “Perish the thought that any Roman die on a cross”.

Our neighbors had to move away recently. An older couple they were headed North to help take care of her sisters who were in ill health. I am going to miss them.
They were both so good and kind-hearted. He was a Rembrandt when it came to home repairs and helped both me and my Dad fix up our homes. She was always ready to share a sweet smile, an encouraging word, and a delicious dessert.
The day of the move two friends and I helped him to load their belongings into the moving van. As we squeezed out every spare inch of space we could in it, I thought of what I would have to carry and load if I ever had to move...
There are times when a song would keep playing over and over in my mind and I would find myself singing it sometimes even while I am working.
One of such songs that has filled my thoughts lately is “One Thing Remains” by Jesus Culture.
Higher than the mountains that I face
Stronger than the power of the grave
Constant through the trial and the change
One thing….Remains
Your love never fails, never gives up
Never runs out on me.
