He was a hard working man and going about his own business when he met Elijah. There was something striking about Elijah that got his attention and he paused in his stride. What happened next blew his mind! As Elijah walked up to him, Elisha felt something around his shoulders.

In awe, he realized it was Elijah’s cloak! The significance of this action was not lost on Elisha and immediately, he ran after Elijah requesting permission to go and say goodbye to his family. Elijah nonchalantly asked him to go and do what he needed to do.  (1 Kings 19: 19-20)

From Elijah’s response, one could deduce that Elijah was a man of little patience with divided attention. You are either ready to do the Lord’s bidding as soon as the Lord requires or you weren’t the man for the job.  In L...

Israel under Jehoiakim, suffered the humiliation and shame of defeat at the hands of  Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.

The humiliation cut across every aspect of  life;  their economy,  politics and worst of all, their religion.  All the gold-plated fixtures, fittings and utensils of the temple were conveyed to the treasure house of Nebuchadnezzar’s god.

Daniel was one of the children taken captive by the Babylonians.  They were stripped of everything they had.  They had to be taught the language and customs of the Chaldeans. They were not even spared their identity – even their names were taken away from them ( Daniel 1: 7)

The king commanded that...

The world is watching with nail-biting apprehension as the latest blood feud between Israelis and Palestinians plays out. The present confrontation was triggered by the murder of three young Jewish kidnapping victims and what appears to be the revenge murder of a Palestinian teen.

Palestinian rockets have struck deeper into Israel than ever before. The response has been air strikes followed by a ground assault from Israeli forces. Each day seems to bring another level of escalation to the fighting. Both sides insist it is their legal right and moral obligation to require "an eye for an eye."
One can make a good case that the biblical directive about eye-for-eye justice is among the most misunderstood - and misused - texts in Scripture.

The original statement comes fro...

In today's world, so many things are changing at a fast pace. As a child I could remember my dad had a radio box in our sitting room called a radiogram. It was a privilege having one of those in your house. A couple of years later, he bought a stereo set  which had a turn-table which played those black shiny record disks. Then came CDs and DVDs. Today, we stream music via the internet or wirelessly via Media servers.

In the area of technology, there have been tremendous changes in the design and use of computers.  In the 60's only a few Companies could afford to buy computers but today, millions of households all over the world have personal computers. Apart from that, a lot of tasks hitherto being handled by human beings are now being done more speedily and accurately with th...

An Inheritance is a privilege or right, given to someone, to receive (property, title, and so on) from an ancestor by legal possession or Will.

It is also defined to mean, receiving by bequest of legacy or to receive as one’s portion or come into possession of property.

For centuries, the subject of inheritance has played a very important role in the life of men. Parents strive to gather wealth in other to bequeath same to their children and dependent family members.

In many cases, those who die intestate (without a will) leave a trail of disputes and turmoil as dependants struggle to claim what they feel is rightfully theirs.  Even for those who leave a Will, there is still the risk of the Will being disputed by interested parties. There have...

She had fled from home. Her destination, unknown. What is known however, is the fact that she was carrying a baby. She left home in haste so she obviously carried little or no supplies. Thoughts must have been going through her mind like, “What will happen to me?” “Will I ever live to see this baby born?” “Would my body be found in this desert place?”
She had pre...
