“Dad! There’s a dog in the back yard.” It was a few years ago during a sweltering Summer day. It hadn’t rained in weeks and the grass had started to turn brown and die. In the last couple of days, I have been meditating on Psalms chapter 23. It is probably the most popular chapter in the Bible and probably recited every single day around the world. This piece pf writing is credited to King David of Israel. It is a Psalm of assurance, confidence, comfort and hope in the Lord. It starts with with the Author proclaiming what God is to him. “The Lord is my Shephered”. One wonders why David chose to depict himself as a sheep being tended by the Shephered. The longest prayer recorded in scripture that Jesus made is found in John 17 and a significant portion of that prayer was His request that we that is, the church, be connected to God and to one another.Why do we need a connection? Most of the things we rely on today is powered by one energy source or the other. We all communicate via our phones. In the days preceding Easter, I spent some time reading the accounts the days before and after Jesus' trial, crucifixion and resurrection. As I read the scriptures, I could not help asking myself the question, 'What Were They Thinking?'Who were the people I am referring to you might ask? My answer is, "Everyone!"
