I once went on a trip with some of my colleagues at work. Usually when I travel, I would call my wife at intervals just to touch base, to let her know how my journey was progressing and to put her mind at ease about my safety.Somewhere along the journey however, I was not able to place any calls because we were travelling through a route outside of the mobile phone operator’s coverage area. At intervals, I would check the screen of my mobile phone and it would show up blank. It was usually at times like this that I would have an urgent need to call my wife, possibly to pass on some information I didn’t remember earlier. I would stare at the screen of my phone willing the logo of the mobile operator to show.As the journey progressed without gettin...

Except you have been living underground with no contact with the outside world, you must have been following the events in Ukraine which began since the deployment of Russian troops to the Ukrainian border late last year.In spite of all pleas and threats of sanctions by various countries as well as organisations like NATO and EU, on February 24, 2022, Russia launched what President Putin called a “Special Military Operation” as its forces moved into Ukrainian cities, launching a full scale invasion. When all the warnings began earlier in the year following the build up of Russian military across the border of Ukraine, I began to pray that the invasion would not go ahead because I knew any war, no matter it’s scale would result in the loss of lives and...

2 Peter was written at about AD60. As the name of the letter implies, the authorship was credited to Simon Peter, one of the disciples appointed by the Jesus at the beginning of His earthly ministry. The primary audience of the letter was the persecuted church in Asia Minor. Peter knew that the time of his death was imminent and that he needed to get a very important message out to the church. In 2 Peter 3:1, we read that God’s divine power has given us everything we need to live godly lives. As a result of this, Peter says, we need to make every effort to progress in our faith. How do we do this? By adding some elements to our faith. Although these things require human effort, the results are obtained through the grace of God.

There is always a sense of anticipation when a new year is about to roll in and 2022 is not an exception. The battle against Covid is still far from over since it became a global pandemic in 2020. No one would have anticipated that more than 2 years later, Covid would still be a major topical issue in our world today.Life as we know it has changed significantly. I used to wonder a few years ago, why some tourists I see in London, especially those from Asia often wear masks. Now it has become our reality. Governments of various countries are trying hard to fight the pandemic and at the same time keep the wheels of their economies running. They also have the challenge of dealing with the divisive issue of imposition of restrictions and vacci...

When a child is born, you can see the joy on the faces of family and friends. It is a time of jubilation and celebration. Phone calls are made, sometimes across the word to break the good news of the new entrant into the family with congratulatory messages pouring in from many quarters. There was however one special child whose birth was celebrated many years before the birth event. In Isaiah 9: 6, we read, ‘For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given…’.  This statement was made in the present tense, though it was a prophecy for an event meant to happen in the future. This was because as far as God was concerned, it was a done deal. Nothing was going to prevent it from happening. Although human eyes had not seen it, as far...

It is not often that my birthday falls on a Monday, which is when I post a new piece on the Biblepraise Newsletter. This makes today a very special day for me.I woke up this morning reflecting on the last 55 years of my life, at least the years I could remember. As I reflected on the past, tears flooded my eyes as memories kept flooding in. The tears were not out of sadness but rather of gratitude for the consistency of God’s faithfulness over my life. I remembered some thirty years ago dreaming of where I wanted to be and what I wanted to achieve in the future. Looking back now, I can testify that God has not only made my dreams come true but also went over and beyond my imagination. There was a time in my life I couldn’t see much...
