When a child is born, you can see the joy on the faces of family and friends. It is a time of jubilation and celebration. Phone calls are made, sometimes across the word to break the good news of the new entrant into the family with congratulatory messages pouring in from many quarters. There was however one special child whose birth was celebrated many years before the birth event. In Isaiah 9: 6, we read, ‘For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given…’.  This statement was made in the present tense, though it was a prophecy for an event meant to happen in the future. This was because as far as God was concerned, it was a done deal. Nothing was going to prevent it from happening. Although human eyes had not seen it, as far...

It is not often that my birthday falls on a Monday, which is when I post a new piece on the Biblepraise Newsletter. This makes today a very special day for me.I woke up this morning reflecting on the last 55 years of my life, at least the years I could remember. As I reflected on the past, tears flooded my eyes as memories kept flooding in. The tears were not out of sadness but rather of gratitude for the consistency of God’s faithfulness over my life. I remembered some thirty years ago dreaming of where I wanted to be and what I wanted to achieve in the future. Looking back now, I can testify that God has not only made my dreams come true but also went over and beyond my imagination. There was a time in my life I couldn’t see much...

Organisations tend to go through a process called rebranding for various reasons. The decision is often based on changing the perception of their customers, especially where their products or services have been the subject of negative publicity. Some rebrand because they have been bought over by other organisations and the new owners have decided to change the branding in line with their own brand.Recently, the popular social media company, Facebook, announced that it had changed it’s company name to Meta. Although they gave reasons for this name change as a reflection of the company’s growing ambitions beyond social media, the fact that this decision was made following a series of negative stories based on documents leaked by an ex-employee has raised eyebrows.

I woke up this morning feeling really thankful to God for the many things He has done for me and my family.  It is so easy to allow the challenges of life and the problems that we face each day to forget that God has been and continues to be there for us like no one else can.The Bible is full of writings to remind us of God’s faithfulness, His love and His blessings towards us. The Psalmist wrote in Psalms 34:1, “I will extol the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glory the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.”This Psalm gives us a template for thanksgiving. He said, and we should, “extol the Lord” not once in a while, not once in a year but at all t...

Tokyo 2020 has come and gone. It was scheduled for 2020 but due to the COVID pandemic, it was postponed to 2021.It was a very unusual Olympics with various competitions staged in stadia devoid of crowds to give their favourite competitors the needed support. Nevertheless, athletes in different categories prepared and competed in order to win a medal.I have read the stories of a few Olympians and what they had to do to prepare for the Olympics. They had to subject their bodies to rigorous training regimes as well as regulate their meals to ensure that they were physically fit for the competition. They also had to be mentally fit as well as we clearly saw in the last Olympics where some athletes had to withdraw from the games due to mental health issues...

As we grow from childhood into adulthood, we encounter experiences that tend to define us. I grew up not having things come my way easily. I found it difficult to ask for help because I was afraid of being turned down and would worry endlessly about putting the person in a position where they had to explain why they could not help. Even when I encountered people who could help, my fear of disappointment wouldn’t let me ask. When I was introduced to Jesus many years ago, what a joy it was to know I could ask for anything from God and He would be wiling and also able to answer my prayers! Some of my favourite verses were; “You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will d...
